After our founding in 2014, we launched ANDPAD in 2016, a cloud-based construction project management service that we see as the “construction industry version of Slack”.
After a first fund-raising in July 2020, we raised additional funding from Sequoia Capital China in October as a Series C extension round, with Minerva Growth Partners as the lead investor, the first of its kind in Japan.

The progress of construction sites is changing everyday.
Changes in design and specifications, resulting delays in documentation and construction kick-off, information sharing via phone and fax, commuting time back and forth to the site for verifications etc., it is always a race against time.
Andpad allows people working in those hectic construction sites to relax and have some leeway in their work.

ANDPAD is the No. 1 cloud-based construction project management service that allows centralized management from site efficiency to management improvement.
You can facilitate communication using ANDPAD Chat, which replaces various means of communication such as phone, fax, and email, that are analog and cumbersome.
Drawings, process sheets, and photos, which are often shared on paper, can be managed centrally with ANDPAD. Launch the app and you can check the latest data anytime, anywhere.
Since the release of the service in 2016, we have contracted over 2,000 companies and there are more than 50,000 companies using the service, thanks to our intuitive, easy-to-use development and our thorough support for installation and operation.
The service is registered with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s NETIS (New Technology Information System) and is used by more than 140,000 people in the construction and building industry.
Our engineering team
What projects/services is your engineering team working on?
The engineering team is in charge of developing SaaS products for the construction industry, in order to solve the challenges of housing, one of the three pillars of daily life (food, housing and clothing).
Through our client base all over Japan, our product has become a foundation supporting construction sites. To further improve the efficiency within the industry, we are going forward with development to allow for flexible API integration, and to turn the system into a platform.

We are gradually introducing microservice architecture for the back-end part. We focus on creating complex systems by combining small and stable microservices.
The engineers who work with us are always on the lookout for the latest technology trends and are actively involved in the development of our products, therefore we are able to keep up with the global technology trends.
What type of engineers work at your company? What is their job content?
All of our engineers are software engineer. We require from our members to have a high degree of commitment to solving challenges regarding products they develop, using advanced software technologies and knowledge.
It is a challenging environment, but it allows one to gain knowledge and experience about many different software technologies.
The technical areas we are focusing on recently are microservices infrastructure development in Go language, building of security infrastructure, and Data Science/AI Technology Development.
Do you plan on using any new technologies in the future?
We plan to promote the development of microservices architecture, which is a current global development trend. Originally a monolithic configuration.
We have been developing many applications using monolithic configuration until now, but in the future we plan on releasing additional features and services, that is why we have steered towards a microservices architecture to facilitate more development.
We are using kubernetes for the infrastructure, and Go for application development as it is suitable for developing solid small features.
